PSS : When did Raqul Reed start and how did you guys start out?
RR : Raqul Reed official launch was at Febuary 19 2011. It was just a normal conversation between two teenage girls and here we are - having them online. Raqul Reed's main selling point are clothes but slowly, we went into the accessories area and it have been doing better than before. Now, we have move into iphone covers. But the main point of this blogshop are still clothes.  

PSS : Who runs Raqul Reed? (You don't have to tell us your names, a short description such as two or three friends coming together one rainy night dressed in woolly socks with a brilliant idea is fine. We just want to have a little close-up feel to this!)
RR : Raqul Reed does not have a specific owner because to us - whoever is involved IS Raqul Reed's OWNER. No matter they have injected money or not , the effort they have put in already made them Raqul Reed's owner. 
Our models - XiuMing & Bernice did fork out a lot of time to do the photoshoot and it's really inconveninet as the three of us are from different colleges. Somehow, Raqul Reed keeps us all together and we're happy for that. No matter what happen in the future or so - I hope that it would stay the same. 
However, it is currently only run by one person - the link of her blog is on Raqul Reed's main page. So don't hesitate to contact her to ask about enquiries and stuff. She won't bite. : )

PSS : Is there a meaning behind the name "Raqul Reed"? And how do you really pronounce it? Is it "Rack-Ool Read" or "Rack-Cool Read" ?
RR : We pronounced Raqul Reed as "RA-Q -READ" . There's no special meaning behind it - we just want to have a different name instead of having those typical ones having the word ' closet' ,'boutique' , 'wardrobe.' 

PSS : Why did you choose to sell what you are selling now? Is there a certain concept to Raqul Reed?   
RR : We normally sell clothes which is actually acceptable in Malaysia as some pretty clothings are hardly acceptable here. The clothes on the web are actually a contrast with the owner as the owner pretty much clothes that stands out in a crowd where people claimed to be exaggerating. So, clothes on Raqul Reed is just like another her wanting to have those clothes in her wardrobe but not suitable. It's another way to fulfill her dream but of course, she still does wear some of them for promotional purposes. 
Raqul Reed doesn't really have a fix concept. All designs are actually custom pick based on the trend. Somehow we illustratred a concept which is vintage and sweet. But we don't bound by that area since we don't only have customers who love the theme. We chose our items based on the overall market .

PSS : How often can your customers expect updates? Will they all be locked down to a certain price range?
RR : My customers DO expect update at least once a week but we somehow couldn't manage to do it all the time as our goods are often imported and our time are always not fix - with the models and the arrival date of the goods. But somehow now, we do manage it quite well.
We try to make our price range to be affordable. Thus, I rarely have customer complained about our price range. To us , quality is always the main reason of every clothing. We can assure that what they pay for , will be total worth the price or more. Of course there will be some clothings which are out of our price range - that would be our exclusive design, then .

October :: FEATURE OF THE MONTH

Now, keeping up with traditions, we decided to ask Chic Couture a few questions just because we are such curious people. Enjoy yourself!

PSS: When did Chic Couture start?

CC: Chic Couture started last year October 12, 2011 (our birth date in facebook). Means we just celebrated our 1st Anniversary! *Yays*

PSS: How did you guys start out?

CC: We started out by selling accessories only with a promise that our lovelies will be able to receive their items within a week after purchase. Then we slowly expanded to selling clothes but dresses in particular because dresses brings out our feminine side a lot more

We hand pick our dresses designs which are in trend, casual yet with a hint of elegance ;) We now open our clothing range for pre-order as we are having too many orders than our ready stock could take. However, our accessories range still keep the promise of receiving within a week!

PSS: Who runs Chic Couture? I mean, you can't be a one girl show right?

CC: Well, We are a 2 sister team, Carmille and Charm. The idea of starting this online blogshop came from me (Carmille) because I didn't like the idea of having to pre-order my items, and yet have to wait for more than 2 weeks before I can get them. I was thinking that there must be a better offer hence decided to offer lovelies out there with affordable accessories where our lovelies can receive them within a week after order closed.

PSS: What does Chic Couture mean? Like, what does it really say or what is it trying to convey?

CC: We actually started out as Chic Asian Fashion House which was cool at that point of time but later on decided that it was too lengthy hence our current name Chic Couture which is much easier to remember and Chic. 

We wanted our name to give a stylish meaning hence the word 'Chic' and the story behind the original name of Chic Asian Fashion House was that we wanted to build our name as one of the leading fashion house in Asia (our ultimate goal) or at least within the country. We then changed to Chic Couture where 'Couture' comes with the meaning of high fashion. 

PSS: Why did you choose to sell what you're selling now? Is there a certain concept behind Chic Couture after a while?

CC: We understand how monotonous it can get on the product varieties offered in malls and whenever we do find something unique that we like, the price often turns us away which makes it difficult and frustrating. Hence in Chic Couture, we wanted to offer a range of products where people can't find easily in the malls or usual shopping hot spots. 

As usual we order by batch and our lovelies will be able to receive them within a week. We understand that postage fees adds on to the burden on the price hence we do throw in free postage with certain offers every now and then. 

PSS: Were there any difficulties in setting up Chic Couture? You guys have been around for about a year now, what have you been facing off and on?
CC: Well the first thing is that we had a lot of problems with our suppliers because sometimes things just don't go the way we want it. It's probably not their fault, but when they let's say run out of stocks, or have defects in their products then we'd have tough times too. And then there's postage matters to think about. Sometimes we're so worried that the stocks just don't get sent out and we would all really panic and wonder what happened; if the stocks got lost or if it's just late or anything like that. Having an online business isn't easy but we've overcome some tough times.

Of course, the most important are our customers. Sometimes, we really hope they understand that we require the payment before we post because we've encountered times where the buyer just never pays but gets out stuff anyway. They would agree to pay us but vanish the very next moment. We learned the hard way, so we are a lot more cautious now. We try to keep a good relation with our customers so usually we try very hard to please them and not offend them. If we ever have, we're so sorry and we promise to make your next experience a better one. 

PSS: So how often can your customers be expecting updates? And is your price going to remain just as is?

CC: We try to have new updates as often as possible; however there is no fixed schedule on it. We try to tailor our price to a range where customers are able to afford them with our accessories ranging from RM5 - RM20 and our clothing line not above RM40. 

The only pricey item you can find in our online shop is our gemstones series. They are actual gemstones selling at lower than market price! We can assure you that our gemstones are genuine and real.

And that was it! Chic Couture has given us so much to know about and we're just so intrigued by them! Now, the wait is over and you will now be rewarded with...A FEAST of beautiful bags, sexy dresses and out of the world accessories! No kidding, JellyBelly has officially gone crazy looking at all these goodies while S is trying hard to feed her tranquilizers.
